Anderson Foss

The original firm of Stewart Hope and O’Donnell was a leading eastern Ontario law firm in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Perth has many historical ties to the firm such as the Stewart residence on Drummond Street which is now the Perth Manor boutique hotel and Stewart Park which was donated to the town by the Stewart family.

Over the years the firm evolved and became known as O’Donnell Dulmage. In 1972 the office moved from premises above the Bank of Nova Scotia on Foster Street to the second floor of the original post office building on Gore Street, now known as the Crain Building.

James Bond took over the practice of Hugh O’Donnell in 1973 and Stephen March joined the firm in 1976. Greg Anderson articled with the firm in 1976 and joined as a lawyer in 1978.

In 1982, the firm purchased and renovated the historic Burchell house at Ten Market Square on Stewart Park in downtown Perth. The Perth Courier has published an article on the history of Ten Market Square.

In 1996 the firm re-organized; Stephen March and Greg Anderson remained in partnership under the name March Anderson and James Bond became a sole practitioner

In April 2000, Stephen was appointed a Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice and Greg then practised as a sole practitioner until 2011.

In 2011, Greg’s legal assistant, Mary Foss, graduated from law school after six years of part time studies. Mary was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in September 2011. Greg and Mary now practise as associates under the new firm name Anderson Foss.
